2009 MSSS Selangor School Sport Council Bowling Tournament May 5 to 7

Since I came out first at the District Tournament Masters event, I was selected to represent the Petaling Perdana District at the above tournament. There are five Gold Medals in the Boys Under-12 category, Singles, Doubles, Team, All-Event & Masters. There are 9 districts participating in the tournament.

I came out second in the Singles, loosing to Rafiq, of Gombak District by 120 pins. Me and Alif, (My double partner) manage to get the Gold, beating Rafiq and his younger brother Razydan of Gombak., in a very thrilling match. Both team had a total score of 1333 pinfall. However, the Gold belongs to us based on the final game count-back.

The 4-boys team event was also another thrilling touch and go kind of match, again this was against the team from Gombak. The battle was head to head, right until the final game. Alif, Haikal, Aqil and me, we survived the battle and managed to beat the team from Gombak, represented by Rafiq, Razydan, Nabil and Hafiz, by a mere 37 pins difference.

Rafiq of Gombak won the All Event, beating me to second place by a massive 172 pins. Again in the Master’s Final, I was beaten again into second place by Rafiq, 1368 to 1362, only 6 pins adrift. It was very difficult for me to swallow. However, my Dad consoled me by telling me that RAFIQ is RAFIQ and that I have to accept the fact that Rafiq, is the probably the BEST Boy in the Under-12 Age Group in the country.

Still it was painful for me coz I lost the chance to get a mobile phone from my Mum. However, my consolation was that I got to be selected as a member of the Selangor Schools, Boys Under-12 team, to the Malaysian School Sport Council Bowling Tournament to be held in Sungai Petani, Kedah in June. The rest of the team members are Rafiq & Razysdan from Gombak and Jalal Widad from Sepang.

Junior Circuit 4th Leg Kuantan Pahang, May 1 to 3, 2009

Due to exams at school and also the start of the MSSS Championship on May 5, 2009, my Dad decide that I skip this Circuit.

Pyramid Monthly Primary School Tournament

At the same time, I participate in the above tournament. This tournament is held once every month. This is a mix 3-game tournament, where the girls are given a 10-pin handicap per game. There are points awarded to the bowlers, depending on their position. The top 30 bowlers, who score the highest point and have participated in at least 4 tournaments, shall take part in the Masters Final sometimes in later this year.

I have already participated in 6 tournaments, achieving 5th, Champion, 5th, 3rd, 2nd & 2nd respectively. Dad says that I do not have to participate in the tournament as I have accumulated enough points. Hopefully, I can make the Masters Final; otherwise I will participate again to ensure that I have enough points to be at the Finals.

MSSD Bowling Tournament at Pyramid April 13 & 14, 2009

On April 13 & 14, 2009, I participated in the Petaling Perdana MSSD Bowling Tournament, in the Boys Under-12 category. This tournament is held yearly, amongst all school children in the district. This tournament serves as Roll-off, for the selection of bowlers, to represent Petaling Perdana District at the 2009 Selangor School Sport Council Bowling Championship.

We had to bowl a series of two blocks, 6-games per block on two consecutive days. The first block is a cut-away block, where only the top 16 will proceed to the second round. On the first block on April 13, 2009, I had played quiet well, and I led the field of 21 bowlers, scoring a total 6-game 978 pinfall with an average of 163. Thus I qualified to move to the second round, the next day.

I went back home feeling good, and Dad……well he did not say very much while driving home. I think he is happy with my game today, coz I saw him smiled to himself once in a while in the car.

At night, before going to bed, I decided to check on my bowling balls, do some ball cleaning also. While checking, I found out that one of my finger insert was a bit tight, so I decided to change it myself as Dad was upstairs, having his prayers.

After I had changed the finger insert, I tried to test, if it fits properly, not realizing that the superglue had not yet settled. To my surprise, the finger insert came out of the ball, and hit me on my right eye. Fortunately, I managed to close my eye before being hit.

I immediately and quietly ran to the sink and try to wash my eye with running water.

Nobody in the house knows anything about this as they were all upstairs. Then suddenly the door to my room opened and I saw Dad. I had to tell him what did happened. He immediately pulled me to the sink again and started washing my eye all over again. I saw his worried look, but that did not stop him from scolding me. Those who know Dad will know. While rinsing my eyes under the tap, he was lecturing me and mumbling all the time, at times I did not really know what he was saying.

When Mum gets to know about what had happened, it was her turn, scolding me but at the same time, I could see the worried in her eyes. She started to clean my eyes again even after Dad had done so. When she was satisfied, she instructed me to go to bed.

On the day of the Final round, I woke up to find it a little difficult to open up my eyes, since there was still some residue of superglue that was not completely cleaned. Mum & Dad took turns in trying to clean it again. My eye was also a little swollen, maybe due to the friction it received and was reddish all over. They were in two minds, either to take me to the Clinic or take me to the alley. I pleaded with them to take me to the alley first, and when the game is over they can take me to the clinic.

I was very quiet at the alley, got shameful feelings also. My sisters and Dad kept on teasing me. I did not talk much with the other bowlers. However, I had the last laugh on them, coz I played very well (to my standard laaah) on the second block of 6 games. I had a total of 1208 pinfalls. This is the first time that I had ever bowled an average of above 200 for 6 games. My total pinfall for both blocks was 2186, giving me an average of 182 for 12 games. I came in at first position and led by 325 pins from the second placed bowler. I was selected to represent Petaling Perdana District to the Selangor School Sports Council Bowling Championship.

Pin Junction JuniorTeam & Junior League

Sometimes in October 2008, I join as a bowler with Pin Junction Junior Team.

We train in at Pin Junction every Sunday afternoon unless the lanes are overbooked. There are about tem of us in the Team, made up of new and beginner bowlers. We trained under our Coach, Aunty Ani (Kak Shalin’s Mum). Sometimes if Kak Shalin is free, she will drop in and give us some coaching and advises.

Unfortunately, the program had to be abandoned, when there was an issue on the management of Pin Junction.

When Pin Junction organized a Junior League, I join in as one of the participants. All together, there were 24 participants, separated into two age group, Under-18 and Under- 12. To make it fair for everybody, handicap was provided. Boys Under-18 played at Scratch. Girls Under-18 and Boys Under-12 gets a handicap of 5 pins, while the girls Under-12 gets 10 pins handicap.

We compete in a four-game league, using the Patterson point-scoring system. After along 23 weeks of league matches, the league was completed. I came out in second place behind Abang Hazwan of Negri Sembilan.

Junior Circuit ~ Kuala Lumpur Leg ~ April 9 to11, 2009

The Kuala Lumpur leg of the Junior Circuit was held at the Megalanes in Endah Parade, Sri Petaling, Kuala Lumpur.

This time I did much better. I had a first round score of 1004 pinfall, and qualified for the Finals on 9th position, with an average of 167. Alhamdullillah! I went back home feeling a little bit happy, seeing a small ray of smile on my Dad’s face.

That night I slept a bit early, just want to have a good rest, before my first ever Finals in the Junior Circuit.

During the Final, I only manage to bowl a little better. I only manage to get 1035 pinfall. Although it is only 31 pins better that the first round, I manage to climb up to sixth position overall, with an average of 170.

My total point for the GP ranking is now 35 and I am still not a qualifier. Must do better
at the next circuit.

Junior Circuit ~ Perak Leg March 6 to 8 2009

The Perak leg of the Junior Circuit was held at the Ampang Superbowl Ipoh Parade, Ipoh from March 6 to 8, 2009. We stayed at my Uncle’s place at Taman Meru.

I bowled badly again, only managing 797 pinfall, for an average of 132. This is a very minor improvement, but still a small improvement.




And Dad? Well he was a spent, stressed and unhappy person. He did not want to talk to me for about 2 hours. Hahahahahaha……ooooops sorry Dad! However, he did have his consolation. My sister, Fairuz, came in third spot for the Girls Open category.
